will present the new 308Peugeot 308 Access 1.2 VTiFrance, 2013 > present and the concept for the 308 R at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 10. The 308 will be aimed squarely at the European C-segment market that makes up about 33% of European auto sales. The car uses Peugeot’s new Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) that allows it to cut 140kg from the current car and ride on an extended wheelbase.
The looks of the car have been altered but not significantly. The longer wheelbase means shorter overhangs in the front and rear. It gets a two-piece grill with a wider lower section, rather than the current one piece. The front of the car is also blunter than the current generation. Otherwise, the car is relatively simple with slab sides and large windows. The 308 is probably not going to win any competitions for its looks, but it gives the car extra interior room with the same length as the previous carPeugeot 308 Gen.1France, 2007 > 2013242 versions

.
In addition to cutting overall weight, the EMP2 also allows for a new suspension layout and latest generation of stability control. It reduces weight, shortens overhangs, lowered center of gravity and electric power steering.
The car will launch with five petrol and diesel engine options with as low as 82g/km of CO2 emissions. Some models will be available with a new six-speed automatic transmission.
In 2014, the car will be available with Peugeots upgraded BlueHDI Diesel engines that combine catalytic reduction and particulate filtering to reduce NOx by 90%. The version in the 308 will be the cleanest offered with 82g/km of CO2 emissions.

The interior gets Peugeot’s i-Cockpit that includes a smaller steering wheel and elevated instrument panel with a 9.7in touchscreen infotainment system. It will also offer new safety systems like blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, emergency collision alert and automatic emergency braking.
The 308 will begin production on September 12 with deliveries beginning a few months later. It will be sold in China next year.
308 R
The 308 R is Peugeot’s concept for a sportier 308 with a lower suspension, larger brakes, wider track, flared body and 19in wheels. It uses the 270hp, 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine from the RCZ R with front-wheel drive and a Torsen limited-slip differential.
