will be unveiling at the New York Motor Show a new technology that allows you to see the ground immediately in front of the bonnet, making the front end of the car virtually invisible. This technology will be featured on the Discovery Vision Concept, whose presentation Land Rover announced last week.
The technology called "Transparet Bonnet" includes cameras located on the front grille of the vehicle that capture images that are projected on the Head-Up Display inside the vehicle via a digital reproduction of the ground through the bonnet and the engine compartment. It will set new standards regarding visual assistance to the driver.
The technology enables a driver climbing a steep incline or manoeuvring in a confined space to see an augmented reality view capturing not only the terrain in front of the car but also the angle and position of the front wheels.
"We are developing new technologies including the Transparent Bonnet to give drivers an augmented view of reality to help them tackle anything from the toughest off-road route to the tight confines of an urban car park." explained Wolfgang Epple, Director of Research and Technology at Jaguar Land Rover.
The Discovery Vision Concept will make its debut at the New York International Auto Show, on the 16th of April. Through the new prototype Land Rover will show the concept of the future family of DiscoveryLand Rover DiscoveryUnited Kingdom, 1989 > present5 series
