Nissan Bringing 4 Concepts to Tokyo Including Pure Electric Sports Car

Nissan has revealed that it will be bringing four concepts to the Tokyo Auto Show at the end of November but did not reveal too many details about them.

By far the most interesting among them is the Esflow, which looks like a minature 370z, and would be wonderful has a baby z-car. The Esflow uses the same powertrain as the Nissan Leaf, and Nissan says that it is capable of accelerating to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds. The concept is a two-seater with rear-wheel drive. There is a seperate electric motor powering each wheel. Nissan says that the batteries have been located to give the car good front/rear weight balance, which probably means that the batteries are mounted under the hood where the engine would be in a traditional car. Nissan says that the car would have a 240km range with the current layout. This would be a fantastic entry-level sports car with either the turbocharged 1.6 liter engine from the Juke or some sort of hybrid.

Nissan is also showing two electric city cars - the Pivo 3 and Townpod. The Pivo 3 offers three abreast seating, and Nissan says that it could park itself without the driver being in the car. It is designed for maximum manueverability like being able to do a U-turn within a four meter road.

The Townpod is meant to be a more usable electric vehicle. It is designed to allow the maximum of cargo space.

Finally, the NV350 is actually a production car that will be on sale to Japan in the Summer of 2012. It offers a three-meter-long cargo area, and Nissan says that it improves fuel economy over previous models.

Nissan will have all of these vehicles at its booth at the Tokyo Auto Show. Hopefully, we will get more details on them all, especially the Esflow.

I'm really looking forward to the Esflow. An affordable hybrid sports car sounds good.

I really like the Esflow. The Pivo 3 seems inspired by the Toyota FT-EV II I saw at the Paris car show: Here authomobilia.blogspot.com/2011/02/toyota-ft-ev-ii-paris-france.html

The Town Pod is really ugly, a mix of Leaf and Cube, taking the worst of each. But the interior design is kind of cool.
