Nissan Giving Winning City 30 Quick Chargers

Nissan has begun a contest in Europe to try to get as many drivers as possible to join the Big Turn On campaign. The city with the most entrants will receive 30 quick charging stations from Nissan.

The campaign wants to reach one million consumers in France, the UK, Germany and the Netherlands. It aims to dispel myths about electric cars and attempt to get them to sign up for a test drive of the Nissan Leaf. It wants to show consumers that the Leaf offers more range than is used by 90% of European drivers on a daily basis.

Nissan plans to give away over 400 quick charging stations by the end of 2012. The quick chargers conform to international standards and can charge the Leaf's batteries to 80% in 30 minutes.

"We recognise the importance of a zero-emissions future and to date, along with our Alliance partner, Renault, have invested over €4 billion into electric mobility. Now it's time to tell Europe about the benefits and demonstrate the Nissan LEAF is a real alternative today, and ‘The Big Turn On' is designed to do just that," said Paul Willcox, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing, Nissan Europe.
