CEO Karl-Friedrich Stracke says that the company will make its cars less expensive.

"We need to regain our traditional customer base. We moved Opel up too quickly. Going forward there will be adjustments to make our cars more affordable," said Stracke.

The company is still working on new models. It plans to introduce 23 new or refreshed cars by 2016. It is also working on three new engine families that will comprise 13 new powertrains.

"We will make a significant investment in Opel's product portfolio. I noticed with interest that some of our key competitors have announced plans to cut product investment spending. Product is king and the key to future success," he said.

Opel plans to use its factories more efficiently to get more vehicles from what it currently has. It also plans to share more components with General MotorsGMGMUnited States of America, 1998 > present8 models
