. Both cars will be on display at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September. 

Both cars are available only as three-doors and have new bodywork. That allows the track to be widened by 10mm at the front and 20mm at the rear. They also both get new headlights with halogen lights and LED accents. The grill has a wider chrome bezel and mesh interior. On the XY the grill includes horizontal black bars, and on the GTi the mesh includes chrome inserts. 

Peugeot has not announced prices for either car yet.

GTI

The 208 GTi will certainly be the more discussed of the two new models. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine with 200hp and 275Nm of torque. Acceleration to 100km/h comes up in less than 7 seconds. Still because of the car’s relatively low 1160kg weight, it emits 145g/km of CO2.  Like the XY, it gets its own unique color – Satin Pearlescent White. Regardless of color, the car gets red accents on the interior and on the exterior trim including the wheels. The car is further differentiated from other models with a trapezoidal exhaust tip and gloss black trim.

The interior has cloth and leather seats with faux-leather covering the dashboard.

For better performance, the 208 GTi gets a specially tuned suspension, heavier steering, thicker roll bars and stiffer bushings. It wears 17in wheels with 302mm front brakes and 249mm rear brakes.

Peugeot will also build 50 special edition 208 GTis with black 17in wheels, and the French flag emblazoned on the front grill. All of these cars will be in Satin Pearlescent White and come with navigation and an upgraded radio.

XY

The 208 XY is meant to be the 208 for buyers who want technology and luxury. It gets a new dark purple color called Purple Night. When specified in this new color, the Peugeot logo and wheel caps are also accented in it. 

The interior of the XY is available in cloth, faux-leather, Alcantara or nappa leather. The interior stitching is also purple. The cars get a 7in touch screen that is connected to Bluetooth and has a USB port. It also has standard Park Assist that parks the car automatically and includes a back up monitor.

The 208 XY is available with five engines, three of which produce less than 100g/km of CO2. The 1.6 e-HDi 92 FAP comes with a five-speed manual transmission and emits 98g of CO2/km. The 1.6 e-HDi 92 FAP comes with a six-speed semi-automatic transmission and emits 98g of CO2/km. The 1.6 e-HDi 115 FAP has a six-speed manual transmission that emits 99g of CO2/km. The 1.6 VTi 120 has a five-speed manual transmission and emits 134g of CO2/km. Finally, the 1.6 THP 155 has a six-speed manual transmission and emits 135g of CO2/km

Other available options include: heated seats, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone air conditioning and cruise control.
