Peugeot has had a fantastic racing season this year winning the ACO's Intercontinental Cup and taking places two through five at Le Mans. But in the world of racing, it is never safe to rest.
Peugeot is already developing its car for next year using its Hybrid4 diesel/electric hybrid engine. The car has already begun testing at the Estoril circuit in Spain. The test drivers are Nicolas Minassian, Stephane Sarrazin and Alexander Wurz.
Peugeot is not saying whether the car is faster than the previous version because it is still in testing, but Sarrazin said, "You can feel the extra power and it will be up to us to harness or adapt it in the most competitive way possible. We will need to strike the right balance. We’re looking at a lot of things and exploring several avenues.”
The 908 Hybrid4 will be the first diesel/electric hybrid in the Le Mans series, and it will be very interesting to see its performance. Peugeot has already developed the 908 into a very strong sports car, and we will have to see how Audi answers this challenge.
