at the Indianapolis 500 race, the French brand has decided to launch a new concept: the L500 R HybridL500 HybridPeugeot L500 HybridFrance, 2016 > 2016. The vehicle celebrates the racing adventures of Peugeot that go back to the early twentieth century.

It was on the L45L45Peugeot L45France, 1914 > 1914 and the Charlatans team that won the race in 1916 that Peugeot was inspired to create the L500 R Hybrid. It is a vehicle with an avant-garde design and powered by hybrid technology. The triumph of the L45 in Indianapolis was only the beginning of the success story of the brand in motorsport. One of the main differences between the L45 and L500 R Hybrid is certainly the height as unlike the historic car, the concept is only one meter tall and weighs 1000kg.

Peugeot turned to hybrid technology to put the L500 R Hybrid on the run. The single-seater concept is equipped with a 271hp petrol engine combined with two electric motors. Together they produce a total output of 500hp and 730Nm of torque. According to the French brand the L500 R Hybrid can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 2.5 seconds.

Through a sculptural vehicle, elegant and technological Peugeot tried to show their vision for the future of motorsport but, although it is unlikely that with its futuristic design the L500 R Hybrid will ever end up being produced, it is clear that the use of  electric technology is part of the plans of the French brand for its road and racing cars.
