While the platform will be shared with other cars, the Macan will use more aluminum to keep weight down. Only all-wheel drive will be available on the Macan at launch.
Porsche is keeping quiet about the engines. It will likely launch with six-cylinder engines shared by the Porsche range, but Porsche has been rumored to be working on a turbocharged four-cylinder that could be used in the future.
Porsche has never been afraid to iterate on a platform, and the Macan will be no different. A more powerful S version, hybrid and diesel version will all come later.

Porsche has specifically upgraded its factory in Leipzig, Germany, to build the new SUV. It has hired 1,000 workers to build the Macan and expects to sell 200,000 a year worldwide.
