While the platform will be shared with other cars, the Macan will use more aluminum to keep weight down. Only all-wheel drive will be available on the Macan at launch.

Porsche is keeping quiet about the engines. It will likely launch with six-cylinder engines shared by the Porsche range, but Porsche has been rumored to be working on a turbocharged four-cylinder that could be used in the future.

Porsche has never been afraid to iterate on a platform, and the Macan will be no different. A more powerful S version, hybrid and diesel version will all come later.

Official images of the Macan have not been released yet, but spy shots of the car make it look like a miniature version of the CayenneCayenne Gen.2Porsche Cayenne Gen.2Germany, 2010 > 201727 versions

Porsche has specifically upgraded its factory in Leipzig, Germany, to build the new SUV. It has hired 1,000 workers to build the Macan and expects to sell 200,000 a year worldwide.
