to anxious to keep Raikkonen because he is one of the top drivers on the grid.

Kimi Raikkonen has been having a fantastic return to F1. He finished third in the World Drivers' Championship last season and has scored two podium this season, one of which was a win. Raikkonen signed a two-year contract with Lotus to return to F1 and will be looking for a new contract for next season.

"Kimi's position is going to be based on a bunch of things and not on what Red Bull say - I think they have their hands full right now.

"As far as we are concerned, the relationship with Kimi is excellent," said Gerard Lopez, one of the owners of the Lotus team.

Lotus says that its strategy is to keep giving Raikkonen what he wants to keep him on the team.

Lopez predicts that the reason Mateschitz mentioned Raikkonen joining the team was to possibly make journalists talk about something other than the interior workings of the Red Bull team.
