Red Bull Racing: No reason to panic

After another disappointing race, after a promising qualifying, Red Bull Racing is saying that there is no reason to panic. At this weekend’s Australian GP, Sebastian Vettel seemed once again certain to win the race but another technical problem cost him and the team another victory.

At this point, hadn’t the spark plug failure, in Bahrain, and wheel problem, in Melbourne, happened, Vettel would possibly be leading the standings with 50 points. Yet, he is currently lying in seventh place with only 12 points, 20 behind the current leader Fernando Alonso.

Although he agrees that the team is deeply disappointed with the results in the first two races, Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner says that everyone in the team is calm about the situation.

"We know we have got a fast car and I would far rather have a fast car than a slow car. We've had two pole positions. We should have been sitting on 50 points and Sebastian is sitting on 12. But there is still a long way to go and the season will have many different twists and turns”, said Horner.

Horner thinks that the performance advantage that has been shown by the RB6 in the first two races, especially in qualifying, is the reason why disappointment hasn’t struck that hard.

"Starting first and second on the grid, the whole team is pretty pissed off to have only come away with two points," he said. "But we will brush ourselves down. We take away from here the confidence that again we have a very fast car, and we will work hard on whatever the problem is that caused this issue. We will be stronger in a week's time."

At this weekend’s Malaysian GP Horner sees no reason no to be confident on a strong performance by his team: "I see no reason why not. Aero is something we are good at."
