Renault-Nissan Upgrading Lagos Factory to Build Patrol

believes that Africa is an emerging market in the earliest stages and is building a factory in Algeria now. It has also just announced plans to upgrade its factory in Lagos, Nigeria, to build the Nissan PatrolPatrol Gen.2Nissan Patrol Gen.2Japan, 2006 > present6 versions

. It is scheduled to start production as soon a next spring. Later, the factory will add Renault models, but it has not announced which ones.

It signed an agreement with Stallion Group to upgrade Stallion’s existing factory in Lagos to build the Patrol. It currently only builds commercial vehicles for Renault at the factory.

"Nissan is preparing to make Nigeria a significant manufacturing hub in Africa, As the first-mover in Nigeria, we are positioned for the long-term growth of this market and across the broader continent,” said Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn.

The agreement still has to be approved by the Nigerian government but is not expected to have any problems. The country wants to improve its manufacturing industry.

The expectation from the factory is that is will later build DatsunDatsunDatsunJapan, 1931 > 198636 models

cars. The brand will be introduced to Africa in late 2014, but local production would start somewhat later.
