Rolls-Royce shows Phantom Metropolitan Collection in Paris

unveiled the Phantom Metropolitan CollectionRolls-Royce Phantom Metro...United Kingdom, 2014 > present at the Paris Motor Show, a handcrafted car with an exclusive design. This collection is an homage to great metropolises and stands out by the meticulous application of marquetry, the art of inlaying small pieces of wood veneer to form decorative motifs.

The picnic tables in the back of the front seats offer the occupants a skyline view, created from the application of 500 individual pieces of wood. This process of sculpting the pieces by hand, colouring and applying is complex and takes a few days to be completed by craftsmen.

The metropolis theme is extended to the colour palette used in the Phantom. The color Aetherius Grey was especially developed for the leather used on the inside and a series of stitches decorate the back seat, showing an abstract image of a skyscraper. The center console is decorated with a clock also developed specifically for this limited edition which shows the major 24 cities of the world and their time zones, including the city of Paris.

The car's exterior paint color Darkest Tungsten is inspired by a skyline and it was the chosen color for its premiere. However, Rolls-Royce offers a selection of 44,000 colors for customers interested in the Phantom Metropolitan Collection.

Rolls-Royce will be manufacturing only 20 units of this limited edition.
