has been sold to a Chinese-Japanese business consortium called National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS) for an unspecified sum.
"NEVS and the Receivers of the Saab Automobile bankruptcy estate today signed a purchase agreement which covers the main assets of Saab Automobile AB, Saab Automobile Powertrain AB and Saab Automobile Tools AB," said Saab and NEVS in a joint statement.
NEVS is 51% owned by Hong Kong-based National Modern Energy Holdings and 49% owned by Japan-based Sun Investment LLC. The two organizations founded NEVS specifically to buy Saab.

into a electric vehicle using Japanese technology. They are planning to have it on sale by the end of 2013 or early 2014.
Saabs will continue to be built at the factory in Trollhättan.
"The sale to NEVS is our most important action to realize the assets of the estate. We are very pleased today, having reached this agreement," said Anne-Marie Pouteaux, one of the Saab administrators.
