What happens when you combine a contemporary protest movement and fans of quirky Swedish cars? Well, apparently it means Saab fans "occupying" General Motor's Facebook page.
Users are going on to Facebook and airing their grievances about Saab on GM's Facebook page. Some of them are telling GM to just let Saab die, others want GM to save Saab, and still others are just against Saab being sold to the Chinese.
There are definitely two camps in the discussion, it seems roughly half want GM to sell off Saab and get rid of it, and the other half want's Saab to be saved.
Monitoring the situation and how this started is hard to tell. Autoblog did a post about it on November 24, and GM's Facebook page only archives back to November 25. We couldn't find any reports about this phenomenon before November 24.
General Motors does have one official comment on its Facebook page about people posting. It is from November 25 at 10:08am, and it says: "Hey Kristopher, as always, we are actively monitoring the wall and are very aware of these posts. There hasn’t been any change to the statement we made to the media the other day: "Although we are open to continuing to supply powertrains and other components to Saab under appropriate terms and conditions, we will not agree to continue existing technology licenses or supplying 9-4X vehicles to Saab following the proposed change in ownership as it would not be in the best interests of our shareholders."
If you have anything that you want to say about Saab or just want to read about people's love of Saab, you can view all of the insanity at GM's facebook page.
