The racecars have a widened front end with improved airflow to the tuned engines and larger brakes. The wheel arches are widened to allow for wider tires and incorporate cooling ducts in the rear for the brakes. They also have a rear diffuser and two-stage roof spoiler. The interior is stripped and a roll cage has been fitted. Drivers are required to wear a HANS device for neck protection.
The Leon Cup Racer uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 326hp (330ps) and 295lb-ft (400Nm) of torque with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and electronically controlled locking differential.
The series will have six events in six European countries, and the precise calendar will be announced later. Each race weekend will include two races.
“With the Seat Leon Eurocup, we offer an interesting opportunity for our motivated customer teams and our enthusiastic fans all over Europe. The Leon Cup Racer is an extremely high-performance race car,” said Dr. Matthias Rabe, head of research and development for Seat.
