Silverstone will host a Green Grand Prix on October 12th. The event, staged by the RAC will attempt to establish the UK’s most energy efficient driver.
Each driver will drive a 14km road route around Silverstone’s Stowe circuit. The test will include a driving assessment and an ‘eco theory’ test.
A range of cars, supplied by different manufacturers will be used. All of the cars will be fitted with data loggers which will be used to assess the performance of each driver through the day.
RAC motoring strategist Adrian Tink said: “Like any new car, if you want to get the best performance out of it you need to know how best to drive it – for new EV cars, that means maximising energy efficiency.”
Entrants include teams from the media, RAC members and competition winners. Prizes include the RAC Green Grand Prix Trophy, while the best placed member of the public will earn a seat in the RAC’s entry in the RAC Future Car Challenge.
There will also be some high performance electric cars at the event, with passenger rides available.
