Skoda Rapid May Get Coupe Variant for 30th Anniversary

In addition to the loss of two doors, the coupe would get a sportier suspension. It would likely get the 1.4 TSI engine with 122hp and dual-clutch transmission.

The idea of a sporty Rapid is not completely unheard of. Skoda showed a high performance version of the Rapid at the Wörthersee car show earlier this year and also brought the car to the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Of course, there is the possibility that the Rapid Coupe could only be shown as a concept. Skoda’s chief designer has been adamant about keeping minimalist design as part of the brand and not being unnecessarily sporty. A concept allows the brand to show off without actually building the car.
