Japanese manufacturers Toyota and Lexus will be the introducing sponsors at the 20th anniversary edition of the Environmental Media Awards. This event is meant to award the entertainment creative teams from television, movies and music that integrate “green”, environment-friendly messages in their productions, thus helping raise the audience’s attention to the environmental problems of today.
Regarding the occasion, senior vice-president of Toyota Motor North America, Dian Ogilvie, says that “the entertainment industry is a powerful vehicle for raising awareness of environmental issues”. TV shows like The Simpsons and Grey’s Anatomy and the film The Day The Earth Stood Still are some of this year’s most nominated productions.
Toyota and Lexus are renowned for their extensive work on hybrid and electric vehicles, including sedan and SUV models, and therefore for taking responsible choices regarding the environment. Moreover, Lexus has been the leading luxury car producer in terms of hybrid vehicle lineups. Those are the main reasons for these two brands to have been chosen to present the 20th edition of the Environmental Media Awards.
