Vehicle Use of Natural Gas Predicted to Rise

For 2013, GM is offering natural gas-fueled GMC and Chevrolet pickups

The number of natural gas vehicles (NGVs) worldwide is predicted to increase through 2019 both from fleets and consumers. The movement towards compressed natural gas will be pushed by the rising cost of gasoline and diesel fuel worldwide. Many parts of the world that lack oil reserves have natural gas reserves.

In North America, NGVs will mostly be limited to fleet vehicles especially vans and trucks. In Europe, the vehicles are more popular, especially in Italy. In Asia, Pakistan, Thailand and China have significant investments in natural gas infastructure.
