posted major gains in November up 11.5% and 10.9% respectively. Both companies are also doing quite well for the year so far with Volkswagen Cars up 11.2% and Audi up 12.7%.

The results show the strength of China in the global marketplace. Volkswagen has sold more cars in China alone this year than in Europe and nearly as much as North America and South America combined.

Volkswagen

Volkswagen sold 504,800 cars worldwide in November and has sold 5.22 million cars from January to November of this year. The company is already saying that it does not expect to be able to keep these strong sales up next year and is predicting a drop in sales.

Volkswagen has sold 1.58 million cars in Europe so far this year, which is roughly the same as last year. The fast growing market is Russia, which has had a 45.3% sales increase this year to 151,400 cars. Sales in Asia are up 18% to 2.12 million cars so far this year with 1.92 million of those cars being sold in China, up 19.2%. North American sales are up 25.5% so far this year to 563,000 cars. The US consumed 394,100 of those, up 35%. Sales in South America are up 8.2% for the year to 766,400 cars and 601,100 of those went to Brazil, up 10.9%.

Audi

Audi sold 123,600 cars worldwide in November and has sold 1,344,750 cars so far this year, which makes it the company's best year ever with one month to go.

Sales in Europe were down 1.9% in Europe for November to 58,570 cars but are up 3.5% for the year so far to 693,850 cars. This slightly negative result in Europe is being offset by November sales in Asia and the US that were up 26.9% and 24.4% respectively. For the year so far Audi's sales in the US are up 18.6% to 124,469 cars and up 28.8% in Asia to 437,500 cars.

China continues to be a juggernaut with 37,600 Audis being sold there in November, up 25.9%. Most of the cars sold there are the Q5Q5 Gen.1Audi Q5 Gen.1Germany, 2008 > 201663 versions
