AG Chairman Dr. Martin Winterkorn acknowledged challenges in the market, but said that the company is on track to meet its 2018 sales goals. 

“We’ve got what it takes to keep Volkswagen on course. We want to become the world’s best automaker by 2018,”, said Dr. Winterkorn.

Volkswagen CFO Hans Dieter Pötsch said: “The Volkswagen Group has been demonstrating its strength and robustness for months, even in times of economic uncertainty. The underlying conditions are challenging and will remain so."

Volkswagen's Strategy 2018 aims the company to produce 10 million vehicles group-wide by that year and have an average per vehicle profit of 8% after taxes.
