Volkswagen release 35th anniversary Golf GTI

Volkswagen is celebrating 35 years since the Golf GTI first debuted in 1976 with a special anniversary edition called the Golf GTI Edition 35.

Following a long tradition of GTI anniversary specials, the Edition 35 adds a number of exclusive features to the standard model. These include a redesigned front bumper, “35” markings on the wing panels, door sill plates, head restraints and centre seat panel, and a metal key ring. Most importantly, engine power has also been increased 25 HP from 210 to 235. Unfortunately no performance figures are available yet.

The Golf GTI Edition 35 will be officially revealed at the GTI Meet at Wörthersee. Orders can already be made for the car in Germany for 30,425 euros, while market launch will begin in mid-June.

Have any of you seen the new Golf R. That car now has All Wheel drive and competes with the Subaru WRX STI. THAT should be interesting.

BINGO! Can you imagine a EVO10 and a WRX STI going against a Golf R. That should be very interesting.

Supposedly it is fun to drive. I hear that subtle launching and quick steering comes with the car.
