“After six consecutive months of growing sales we can report a great full-year performance exceeding last year’s results,” said Alain Visser, Volvo head of sales and marketing.

The United States was Volvo’s largest single market with 61,233 cars sold, down 10.1% from the previous year, but China is growing extremely rapidly with 61,146 cars sold, up 45.6% from the previous year.

“Our China team has delivered fantastic growth and we will continue to expand our presence there,” said Visser.

In the European Union, Volvo sold 226,095 cars this year, down 0.4%. Volvo is still the market leader in Sweden with a 20% market share. It sold 52,260 cars there in 2013, up 0.8%.
