History, development and general characteristics

The Audi A4 received quite a heavy adjustment by the end of 2004 and the third generation A4 was launched in 2005. You can also call it A4 B7 series due to the platform used for this model. It is important to remark that several engine options were added to the A4’s already wide available range.

The B7 series was replaced in Audi’s line-up in 2008 by the fourth generation Audi A4, but the same car (B7) received some restyling and is since sold as the Seat Exeo from Spanish carmaker Seat.

Engine and Transmission

The third series Audi A4 has a petrol engine assortment that starts at the base model’s 1.6-liter unit and goes up to the top variant’s 3.2-liter V6 engine, with power outputs ranging between 101 and 252 hp. The B7’s diesel engine options range from a 1.9-liter unit to a 3.0-liter V6, with power outputs between 113 and 230 hp.

The fastest and most powerful variant of the B7 range (3.2 L V6) can perform 0-60 mi/h in 6.4 seconds and shows a 155 mi/h (249 km/h) top speed. Both front-wheel drive and ‘quattro’ permanent four-wheel drive are available. A multitronic CVT transmission is fitted on the front-wheel drive models, while the others can either be given a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
