Audi's Entire A4 Line Gets Revised Exterior and Mechanical Tweaks

It seems like the current A4 is still brand new, but Audi is already revising the entire line's exterior and offering some mechanical tweaks.

The new exterior accentuates the A4 lines wide stance and will be available on the A4 and S4 sedan, wagon and allroad. The new headlights have Audi's now ubiquitous LED daytime running lights, but they have been changed so the DRLs outline the entire headlight unit. Audi has also changed the hood and fenders to make the top of the waterfall grill wider, and the slats in the grill are now molded to be more three dimensional. The allroad version gets chrome grill slats and round, as opposed to trapezoidal, foglights. On the rear, the tail lights have been changed to be similar to the new headlights. All of the exterior changes have only affected the A4's dimensions by a few millimeters.

The interior is getting a few smaller changes. The MMI system has been refined to four buttons, instead of eight. Otherwise, the interior only sees a few small upgrades. There are new steering wheels and interior finishes. Like the exterior, the interior dimensions remain the same when compared to last year's model.

The A4 line is still available with the same range of six diesel and four gasoline engines. The only change is a redesign of the flywheel on the 2.0 TDI models that makes the car quieter in the cabin and improves fuel economy by 0.2l/100km.

All A4 models now get electromechanical steering that Audi predicts lowers fuel use by 0.3l/100km and lowers emissions by 7g/km of CO2.

Prices for the A4 are up €475 for the 2012 model.
