The RS 5 was chosen to represent Audi in the 2013 season of DTM.

The DTM series uses a spec chassis, and teams are only able to develop limited parts of the car. Under the skin, the new RS5 DTM is basically the same as last year’s A5 DTM.

The switch to the RS5 is much more about marketing than performance. Audi wants to identify its RS top performance brand with its racecars.
