Autobianchi was born with the goal of testing the public’s response to Fiat’s innovative car models. Bianchi, Pirelli and Fiat joined to create this carmaker in 1955. The first car to be produced by Autobianchi was the Bianchina, a tribute to Edoardo Bianchi. Bianchina was replaced by the popular A112 that Fiat was reluctant to launch under its badge. The A112 was a success being produced for 17 years. It was replaced in 1986 by the Autobianchi Y10. Marketed as Lancia Y10 on most countries, the Autobianchi badge was discontinued in 1996, after closing its production plant in 1992.
