The Chevrolet SS was announced for the 2014 model year.

It will be a rear-wheel drive, V8-powered sedan. Chevrolet says that it will offer the car in limited numbers. The car is based on the same chassis as the Camaro and Holden VF Commodore, and the SS will be built in Australia. Power for the car is still unknown, but it could be any of GM's LS-series of V8s found in the Camaro and Corvette. Horsepower for those engines range anywhere from 426hp, 430hp and 505hp. However, Holden builds a Commodore SS in Australia that uses a 362hp version of the LS V8. It is possible that the SS sedan could use this engine as well. The SS is the first rear-wheel drive sedan sold by Chevrolet in the US in 17 years.

The SS will debut on track at the 2013 Daytona 500 Nascar race.
