At the moment, not much is know about the SS. It will be a rear-wheel drive, V8-powered sedan. Chevrolet says that it will offer the car in limited numbers. The car is based on the same chassis as the CamaroCamaro Gen.5Chevrolet Camaro Gen.5United States of America, 2009 > present48 versions

. Horsepower for those engines range anywhere from 426hp, 430hp and 505hp. However, Holden builds a Commodore SS in Australia that uses a 362hp version of the LS V8. It is possible that the SS sedan could use this engine as well. The SS is the first rear-wheel drive sedan sold by Chevrolet in the US in 17 years.

"I am thrilled that Chevrolet will deliver a true rear-wheel-drive NASCAR racecar in the SS that is closely linked to the performance sedan that will be available for sale,” said Mark Reuss, president of GM North America.

The SS will debut on track at the 2013 Daytona 500 Nascar race.

Why will this succeed though? GM has tried it twice in the last decade. The Pontiac GTO was a rebadged Holden Monaro, and the Pontiac G8 was a rebadged Commodore. Both failed, although I heard good th...

Hopefully it is. The reason why they never succeded was because of the low numbers and how GM was thinking. Hopefully they work on the little things like interior quality.
