The eighth generation Honda Civic replaced the previous model on the markets by the last months of 2005. Retaining its typical wide variety of trim level and engine options, the Civic is considered to be one of the most diverse cars in the automotive industry.
The Civic model is being produced at Honda plants in several countries: Japan, United States (states of Ohio and Indiana), Canada, Brazil, England, Turkey, Pakistan, India, Thailand and Taiwan.

All Civic versions have a front engine, front-wheel drive arrangement. The available engine range goes from the hybrid Civic’s 1.3-liter engine up the most powerful of the range’s 2.0-liter engine, along with 1.6- and 1.8-liter versions. In the European market, the Civic is also available with a 1.4-liter displacement.
The Civic variant with the highest trim levels is the 2.0 L with 197 hp, which reaches 60 mi/h in 6.8 seconds and goes on up to a 129 mi/h (208 km/h) top speed. There are three types of transmission that can be fitted on the 8th generation Civic cars: a 5-speed manual unit, a 6-speed manual with helical-type limited slip differential and a 5-speed automatic transmission.

The Honda Civic model can be found and acquired in three different body shapes, each one available in several trim levels: a 2-door coupe, 3- and 5-door hatchbacks and a 4-door sedan. The hybrid Civic, however, is only available as a sedan.
