The Kia Sorento is a mid-size crossover SUV produced since 2002 by the South Korean automaker Kia Motors, a subsidiary of Hyundai Motors.

The Sorento was introduced in the market in 2003 and used a unibody construction, which is a feature often found in trucks.

In 2009 Kia unveiled the second generation Sorento, codenamed XM. The model is built in the United States right next to its sister vehicle, the Hyundai Santa Fe.
