History

What started in 1934 as a metalworking shop turn out to be, many decades before, a motorcycle production factory and more recently a carmaker.

Kraftfahrzeug Trunkenpolz Mattighofen was founded in 1934 by the engineer, Hans Trunkenpolz in Mattighofen, Austria. The repair shop remained in this business until 1953, when it started to produce motorcycles. 20 employees built three units per day. In the same year, KTM hits the race tracks, finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the 5th Gaisnberg competition. The company also officially adopts the name Kronreif & Trunkenpolz Mattighofen.

In 2007 the first car model of the company, X-Bow, was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show. This model started to be produced at June 2008.
