The British automaker Lotus Cars is a specialized producer of light-weight sports and racing vehicles and has its headquarters in Hethel, at Norfolk, England. The company was founded in 1952 by Colin Chapman and is since 1996, owned by Proton which was acquired by DRB-HICOM in january 2012.
Besides producing street-legal sports cars, Lotus has also a long tradition in motorsports and is currently participating in the Formula One World Championship.
