Review
The Mercedes 28/95 Rennversion was built in 1921 by Max Sailer. It is based on the 28/95 Limousine but it has a shortened wheelbase: 3063 mm. It is in fact a caring version, hence the name: "Rennversion".
The car’s engine was fitted with a compressor derived from aircraft engines that increased the power from 95 to 140 hp. With the extra power, the car was able to finish the Targa Florio 1922 race in first place. Did the race of 432 km in 7 hours, 27 minutes and 16 Sec, resulting in an average speed of 57,9 km/h.
However the engine didn’t cope with the hp increase and the compressor version was never listed.
