Citroen will introduce a redesigned version of the C1 micro car at the Brussels Motor Show on January 10.
The redesign retains the same basic shape as the old C1. The Citroen chevron now has a cut out in the grill, and the headlights are even more ovacular. The front bumper is now separated into three distinct sections with the air intake in the center and fog lights to either side. The vertically-mounted daytime running lights are located with the fog lights. The sides and rear are basically identical to the previous version. It will continue to be avialable as either a three- or five-door.
The C1 is powered by the same in-line, three cylinder engine with 68hp. Even with the manual transmission, the C1 has improved fuel economy. It is now rated at 65.7mpg, compared to 61.4mpg for last years model. Emissions are also down to 99g/km of CO2, compared to 106g/km last year. Citroen is also offering a new Electronic Gearbox System (EGS). This automatic transmission comes with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Fuel economy is boosted to 62.8mpg but emissions increase to 104g/km of CO2.
On the inside, EGS-equipped cars get a leather-covered steering wheel. The radio has been redesigned to match the instrument cluster. The radio is now capable of playing MP3s and comes with USB and Bluetooth connections.
The new C1 will go on sale in Britain in April.
