is now on sale in the UK starting at £14,150 with its 875cc, turbocharged two-cylinder engine with 85hp. 

The TwinAir comes in a special Ametista Black that is black with a dark purple hue. It is available in two trims: Sprint and Distinctive. 

The Sprint starts at £14,150 with 16in wheels, cruise control, fog lights, Bluetooth, USB connection and more. The Distinctive costs £15,350 with 17in wheels, Brembo brake calipers, rear parking sensors and chrome trim. 

The TwinAir has 85hp and 145Nm of torque with a six-speed manual transmission. It has a top speed of 108mph. Alfa Romeo says that the Mito TwinAir will accelerate to 100km/h in 12.5 seconds with the driver and 30kg of cargo. It uses 4.2l/100km in the combined cycle and emits 98g/km of CO2. Stat/stop comes standard with the engine. 

In the UK, buyers of the Mito TwinAir do not have to pay road tax and no London congestion charge. The TwinAir won 2011 International Engine of the Year Award including Engine of the Year, Best New Engine, Green Engine of the Year and Best Sub 1-liter Engine.

I love this engine in the 500. Did not get a chance yet to test it in a MiTo. Wonder if it is not a bit too upscale for the noise of the engine...

But the fact that you do not have to pay roadtax in the UK is a boost for 'green' cars. I hope that will help to sell this MiTo TwinAir.
