Commissioned by a customer,
Aston Martin unveiled this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed the
GT12 Roadster. The one-off and exclusive vehicle is based on the
Vantage GT12 Coupé but received several changes in terms of chassis, engine and aerodynamics.
Marek Reichman was responsible for the design and resulted in several conversations with the customer who initially sought to buy a GT12 Coupé and eventually ended up chosing a unique creation. Although he prefered to remain anonymous, Aston Martin revealed that the customer is one of the best of brand and a supercar buyer. The GT12 Roadster will be a one-off model as the customer has paid to maintain his car exclusive.
With this creation Aston Martin also planned to show its capabilities to create unique vehicles, which the brand hopes will become an important percentage of its business and turnover. The Director of Advanced Operations at Aston Martin, David King, said that today the cost of these exclusive creations is much lower thanks to carbon fiber handling tools.
The same 6.0 liter V12 600hp engine that powers the GT12 Coupe was also fitted in the GT12 Roadster. Aston Martin did not reveal performance data.
