Starting today and lasting until April 3, Audi Tradition is showing at this year’s Techno Classica in Essen a stand inspired on the motto “Attractive Couples”. Audi has entitled its stand“Racing Series” and brings to the world’s biggest classic car show three competition vehicles, each representing various chapters of the company’s motorsport history and being matched at the show with its respective series-production.
One of the couples that will be featuring at the Techno Classica is the Audi 80 quattro 2.5 DTM and the Audi 80 TDI. The first is a one-only prototype, built in 1992/93. It features a six-cylinder engine that develops 388 bhp at the impressive engine speed of 10,500 rpm. This prototype would never reach the starting line. The contrast is given by the 1994 Audi 80 TDI, the fourth generation of what was known internally as the B series.
Another car that will be featuring at the Techno Classica is the Audi Coupé GT 5E from 1984, also a B series car. This one is contrasted with the 1981 Audi Coupé GT Group 2 Touring Car entry. The Audi Coupé GT made its first appearance on the starting grid in the 1981, with the 225-bhp competition version being the world’s most powerful front-wheel-drive car at that time.
The final couple consists of the 1972 NSU 1300 TT competition car, very successful in hillclimbs with power output of 130 bhp and the road version of the NSU 1200 TT, built in the same year, with a power output of 65 bhp.
