at the New York Auto Show, which begins on March 27. It has made an odd choice, though, and the previously top of the line GSBuick Regal GS 2.0 EcotecUnited States of America, 2011 > present3 photos
model has been reduced in power, but the 2.0-liter turbo engine has received a power boost.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets an 18% power boost to 259hp and 295lb-ft from 220hp and 260lb-ft previously. The GS previously had 270hp from this engine, but it will now share its turbo engine with the Turbo trim level. The other engine option will be the 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid with 182hp and 172lb-ft of torque. The Regal GS gets a six-speed manual transmission, and the other models get a six-speed automatic.
Buick explains that the loss of power from the GS is because the car is using the brand new 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine. The new engine has less friction and more refined noise, vibration and harshness.
The Regal Turbo and GS will be available with all-wheel drive for the first time.
The refreshed Regal gets LED running lights, LED taillights, an upgraded interior, a new generation of IntelliLink infotainment and upgraded engines. It will now be offered with all-wheel drive, and the new technology features include side blind zone alert, lane change alert, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, adaptive cruise control and rear cross traffic alert.
The updated cars go on sale in the fall.
