, the model that gave birth to the successful sub-brand DS will be updated. The model receives a retouched design, a new security kit and two new engines for both the hatchback and convertible versions.
One of the big features of the new DS3 are the headlights with xenon and LED modules. However, this new technology is only available as standard in the top-of-the-range DS3 DSport versions and optional in Dsign and DStyle versions. These headlights allows a 35% lower power consumption on cruising lights and 75% on high-beams.
Citroën is launching two new engines of 1.6 liters. According to the French brand, the most ecological version, the turbodiesel BlueHDi 100DS DS3 1.6 BlueHDiFrance, 2014 > present, consumes on average 3.0l/100km and emits 79g/km of CO2, a value that is the best in the supermini class. The second novelty of the DS3 range is the engine of the BlueHDi 120DS DS3 1.6 BlueHDiFrance, 2014 > present, which despite being 20hp more powerful is also more efficient than the version it replaces, with an average consumption of 3.6l/100km and emissions of 94g/km.
The new Citroën DS3 debuts a new urban active braking technology, which activates the brakes when an object is detected in front of the car at speeds up to 30km/h. The French brand also offers an optional rear view camera, it becomes more advantageous for the Cabrio variant whose visibility is reduced by the bonnet.
The DS3 updates are completed by the laser engraved panel, new colors and new alloy wheels of 17 inches. The new DS3 hits the market in July.
