finally fulfilled the promise of launching the first SUV from the DS range. As it had already been announced, the DS 6WRDS DS 6WR e-THPFrance, 2014 > present is strongly inspired by the Wild RubisDS DS Wild RubisFrance, 2013 > 2013 concept and will debut this week at the Beijing Motor Show.
After the DS 5 and DS 5LS, the DS 6WR will become the third model to be produced by Citroën in China. According to the French brand the new premium SUV is expected to offer a combination of the versatility of a SUV and the sophistication and refinement of the DS range.
The DS 6WR is 4550mm long, 1860mm wide and 1610mm high, which makes it slightly longer, wider, but shorter than the Peugeot 5008. The vehicle drives on 19-inch wheels.
To optimize traction, without equipping it with an all-wheel drive system, the Citroën DS 6WR is fitted with the Grip Control technology. Besides the advantages in driving this system also reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Due to be launched in the Chinese market by the end of this year, the new DS 6WR will be available with two four-cylinder engines of 1.6 liters, with 160 and 200hp. Both engines will be combined with an automatic six-speed gearbox.
In terms of design the DS 6WR receives some of the features premiered on the DS 5LS. The new "DS Wings" fascia with two chrome wings that extend out to the side lighting clusters continues to spread on the new sub-brand DS.
With a strong focus on China, DS has proven to be a winning bet in that market. Thanks to this success Citroën is becoming more eager to extend this approach to other markets. This means that models like the DS 6WR or the DS 5LS may soon be heading to other parts of the world. Citroën also revealed that in the coming months it will be revealing another model for local production.
