Dodge has revealed the upgrades that the 2012 Challenger SRT8 392 will receive which are mostly centred around interior technology.
The 392 will retain its same 6.4 litre HEMI V8 which delivers 470 hp and 637 Nm and allows for 23 mpg and 0-60 mph in less than 5 seconds. However the optional five-speed automatic transmission now features standard steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.
An adaptive damping suspension system has also been fitted on the 2012 model which features an “Auto” mode and a “Sport” mode. “Auto” automatically adjusts the suspension in response to various inputs such as speed and steering angle, while “Sport” locks the damping system rebound and compression to the highest damping rate which give the 392 the ‘fastest turn-in and most nimble handling characteristics of any SRT product.’
The interior now receives a heated SRT leather steering wheel as standard and an extra interior colour combination called Radar Red/Dark Slate Gray. A 900-watt, 18-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system is also available as an optional extra. It features two 10-inch subwoofers and makes use of GreenEdge speaker technology which allows the system to operate up to 90 percent more efficiently than traditional amplifiers.
The 2012 Challenger SRT8 392 should go on sale in the autumn.
