at the Geneva Motor Show overshadowed Ferrari's announcement that it gave the California significant upgrades in power and weight.
The 2012 California has 490ps and 505Nm of torque, compared to the 2009 specification's 460ps and 485Nm of torque. It also shed 30kg of weight. According to Ferrari, acceleration is a tenth of a second faster to 100km/h at 3.8 seconds.
Ferrari also added an optional Handling Speciale Package to the California that adds magnetic dampers and a faster ECU for the suspension that lets it adjust 50% quicker. Ferrari also says that steering response is 10% better with the package.
To celebrate these changes to the car, Ferrari released the video below that really shows off how the new car sounds. The California has always felt like a little too much of a compromise. It is still a Ferrari, but the California name is apt. It is more style over substance. Hopefully, the weight savings and extra power make it a little more of a driver's car.
