millions of dollar this year. His seven retirements, really eight when you count the Japanese Grand Prix, and suspension from the Italian Grand Prix probably would have made Lotus the third place team in the World Constructors' Championship. The car was clearly good enough given Raikkonen's seven podiums. Next year, Grosjean has to do better or he will be out of Formula 1.
Grosjean will work over the winter to improve his confidence. He blames his race start performance on being overly aggressive.
"I think it mainly comes from myself. We had a lot of discussions with the team to see what was wrong, and we have been working since September on it.
"Now, over the winter, I will work twice as hard. At the end of the day you are on your own in the car, you have to take your own decisions, and you have to make the right ones," said Grosjean.
He also says that he was overthinking his driving by the end of the season.
"It was not an easy end to the season with the pressure, trying to do no mistakes and trying to control anything. I wasn't driving natural anymore, and you end up making mistakes because you are trying too much to be careful," said Grosjean.
