Honda has installed a solar-powered hyrdrogen station of the grounds of its office in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. According to Honda, the station uses a high pressure water electrolysis system to produce 1.5kg of hydrogen every 24 hours that gives its FCX Clarity 150km of range.

Building the hydrogen station is part of a program by Honda, energy company Iwatani and Saitama Prefecture to test electric and other clean vehicles. The intitiave means that other than in the production of raw components, driving and fueling the CX Clarity produces no CO2.

Honda has also recently modified its FCX Clarity test vehicle with a 9kW outlet that lets it function as a mobile electric generator.
