, the i20 WRC will be used only in the 2016 season of the WRC, since it has been already announced a major change of technical regulations for the 2017 championship.

Equipped on the i20 WRC is the 1.6 liter engine turbo petrol with 300hp and 400Nm of torque. With four-wheel drive, the vehicle is also coupled with a sequential six-speed gearbox.

Over the past two seasons in the WRC, Hyundai achieved a victory in the championship thanks to Thierry Neuville at the Rally of Germany in 2014. In 2015 Hyundai achieved four podium finishes but no wins, with the main focus on the development of the 2016 car.

Hyundai is confident that the development of the i20 WRC will enable the brand to achieve better results in the WRC. More than 8000km tests confirm to the Korean manufacturer that the car is faster and the experience of the technical team ensures that the goals for the new season can go higher. However, Hyundai knows that the competition remains strong, but still want to fight as equals for the top spots.

In 2016 Hyundai will compete in all rounds of the WRC with three cars that will be driven by Dani Sordo, Hayden Paddon and Thierry Neuville. However, the season will only start with two new i20 WRC. The third car for the Monte Carlo Rally is still the previous version, which will be replaced in the second race of the year in Sweden.
