Tata's philosophy on running Jaguar and Land Rover seems to be working. The Indian company seems to take a very hands-off approach to the two companies. As long as they are successful and include Tata on the profits, they get to do what they want. It is going well for them because Autoweek awarded the Jaguar C-X16 its Best in Show award, and it gave Land Rover's DC100 Concept the Best Concept award.
"Winning two of the top media awards in our industry here at the Frankfurt Motor Show is a tremendous achievement for the jaguar and Land Rover brands," said Frank Klaas, Global Head of Communications, Jaguar Land Rover.
The C-X16 was certainly a star of the show. It uses a supercharged, 3.0 liter V6 making 375hp. It is a two seat car that looks a lot like a smaller version of the current XK. Given the rececption that this car received in Germany expect to see a production version of this car in a few years.
The Land Rover DC100 Concept is supposed to show what the next generation Defender could look like. The concept uses a turbocharged, 2.0 liter engine and an eight speed automatic transmission. Land Rover said that it plans to launch the new Defender in 2015.
