organized an event in the heart of London's financial district, where the new model was put to the test in a stunt to drive over steel cables on the water. The model will be officially unveiled on April 1st at the New York International Motor Show.
The stunt accomplished by Jim Dowdall, which starred in some of the most spectacular scenes of the James Bond, Jason Bourne and Indiana Jones movies allowed to demonstrate the benefits of the advanced platform with high aluminum content of the new XF. In addition to being about 80kg lighter than any of its more direct competitors it also makes it the most efficient model in its class, with an announced consumption starting from 3.9l/100 km and emissions of 104 g/km of CO2.
Design
The coupe design of the new XF keeps the elegant and simple lines featuring the image of the current Jaguar range. However, Ian Callum, Director of Design of Jaguar says that "every XF's exterior line has a clear goal. Nothing is superfluous. Achieving this simplicity takes time and requires great determination; it is very easy to add lines to a vehicle, but it is much harder to get character without them. "
Inside Jaguar bet on a combination of avant-garde materials and luxurious trimming with traditional Jaguar quality finishes and the latest technologies such as the new information system and entertainment "InControl Touch Pro" or a 12.3 inches TFT screen with customizable instruments.
New platform
The new generation of the XF is based on the new Jaguar platform with advanced aluminium-intensive architecture. The platform built with 75% aluminum provides a weight reduction of up to 190 kg and an increase in torsional rigidity by 28%.
Thanks to the use of the new platform Jaguar managed to make improvements in terms of design and proportions. Despite being 7mm shorter and 3mm lower than the original XF, the wheelbase of the new XF is 2960mm, 51 longer than before, making it the industry leader in terms of passenger space.
Most advanced and powerful engines
Among the engines that will be part of the new XF range are the four-cylinder diesel 2.0 engines from the Ingenium family with 163hp and 180hp, both available with manual six-speed and automatic eight-speed transmissions. With emissions of 104 g/km of CO2, the 163hp version with manual transmission becomes the lighter and most efficient diesel engine (not hybrid) version in its class.
The other engines included in the range of the new generation XF include the 2.0i4 turbo petrol engine with 240hp and 380Nm of torque, the 3.0 V6 Supercharged available in 340hp and 380hp outputs, both with 450Nm of torque, and also the 3.0 V6 bi-turbo diesel with 300hp and 700Nm of torque. All these versions will be coupled to the automatic eight-speed transmission.

and XE. The vehicle can be equipped optionally with active dampers. Jaguar's Configurable Dynamics technology, premiered on the F-TYPE, offers the latest control technology and allows the driver to individually adjust the configuration of the shock absorbers, steering, engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.
The all-wheel drive system AWD will be available in some markets together with the eight-speed automatic transmission. This system distributes the torque between both axes by a mechanism actuated by the power transfer box, which provides a more efficient, lightweight and silent operation.
Another new feature in the XF is the All-Surface Progress Control system, developed for low speed driving in adverse conditions. Through automatic management of the brakes and throttle in order to provide the best possible traction, the driver only has to engage the wheel.
